Strive for Strength offers great opportunity to teenage girls!

Strive for Strength offers great opportunity to teenage girls!

Strive for Strength is hosting a powerful daylong retreat April 14, which addresses some of the issues teenage girls are facing every day, such as family and friend relationships, bullying, social pressures and self-image.

As part of the day's event, attendees will have the opportunity to listen to leaders, who will bring their own examples of empowerment and what it means to be a young woman today. Scheduled speakers/mentors are:

*Lauren Cook - a recent graduate from UCLA with a double major in communication studies and psychology, and the author of "The Sunny Side Up!", which focuses on gratitude and goal setting.

* Noelle Bean - a singer and songwriter from Los Angeles, who says she writes about real life and wants to inspire young people through her music.

All Aboard for Story Time!

Let railroads help introduce and foster the love of reading for your little ones!  California State Parks and the California State Railroad Museum are proud to introduce a new reading program on the first Monday of each month starting on 11 a.m. on April 7, 2014.  With exciting locomotives and railroad exhibits as visual backdrops, this interactive and fun new program is designed for imaginative young children ages two to five.  Museum staff will read a different railroad-related book each month, starting with All Aboard the Dinotrain by Deb Lund for the premiere “All Aboard for Story Time!” in April.  Afterward, little ones can enjoy the Museum with their parents.  Whether its toy trains or big locomotives, there is something to discover in the Museum that will thrill children of all ages!
