A Quick and Easy Weeknight Meal

This is a recipe where it's really just about the method; the ingredients should be whatever lean protein and healthy green veggies you want to use.  Increase the nutrition with super-veggies like spinach and kale.  Make it meatless using tofu or cooked quinoa.  It's easy to just increase the quantities of everything to feed more people or to ensure you have plenty of leftovers for lunch.

Winners at Bacon Fest Sacramento Chefs Competition

Sunday afternoon, nearly 300 guests converged on Mulvaney's in Midtown for the third annual Bacon Fest Chefs Competition. Twelve local chefs vied for the top prize. Here are the winners:

Best in Show, 2014 Bacon Fest Champion: Ian McBride of Lucca Restaurant (Ian wins a three night stay in Napa at a culinary academy)

Audience Award: Noah Zonca, Capital Dime (Noah won for his bacon brittle and received a medal and his choice of locally produced M.A.C. knives)

Best Bacon: MIchael Tuohy, Block Butcher Bar and LowBrau (chef Tuohy will be opening his brand new restaurant Block Butcher Bar next month)
