9 arrested in Sacramento/Yuba Co. pot grow ring

ELK GROVE, CA - Elk Grove detectives with the aid of Sacramento sheriff and Sutter/Yuba narcotics enforcecent teams busted a two-county marijuana grow operation Thursday.

Officers served search warrants at homes in Elk Grove (the 8400 block of Modena Way), Sacramento (8500 block of Aleksander Court, Brenham Court, Loma Mar Court) and Plumas Lake in Yuba County (1900 block of Bidwell Bar Drive, 1900 block of Long Horn Trial Drive and the 1700 block of Guildford Way). Inside several of the residences, detectives found marijuana-growing operations and seized more than 3,100 pot plants, said Elk Grove police spokesman Officer Chris Trim.

One bad deed deserves another?

SACRAMENTO, CA - A man police suspect of trying to steal copper wiring from a south Sacramento building took a tumble and was taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon.

Sgt. Norm Leong with the Sacramento Police Department said it was believed the man had climbed into the ceiling area of a building under construction on the 6700 block of Stockton Boulevard when he fell through falsework. The man fell 20 feet, hitting several objects along the way.

Apparently, the man tried to get outside but a witness saw he was injured and called for help from firefighter/paramedics. Those responders called police.

The extent of the man's injuries wasn't known. He was taken to the UC Davis Medical Center.

Leong said officers found what they think is the man's tool bag and bicycle nearby.

Man wounded in Sacramento officer-involved shooting

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento Police Department is investigating a shooting after an officer fired shots at a suspected robber on Saturday afternoon.

According to Sacramento Police Department spokeswoman Officer Laura Peck, around 3:30  p.m. officers attempted to make an arrest of a man suspected of robbery at the 3800 block of Florin Road.

A caller reported the suspect's name and vehicle information and that she believed he was suicidal.

When officers approached the man, he drove his car in the direction of the officers.  Fearing for his safety, the officer fired his weapon at the driver, hitting him in the upper body. The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital. 

No one else was injured in the incident.

Peck said that wounded man was in stable condition expected to survive.

Sac PD searching for teen robbery suspects

SACRAMENTO, CA - The Sacramento Police Department is investigating four robberies orchestrated by three juvenile suspects early Sunday morning in south Sacramento.

"They were roving around with really callous disregard for everything what was in their path," said Lt. James Hendrickson of Sacramento Police Department.

According to the Sac PD, the robbery spree began at about 2:00 a.m., when the three teens on bicycles approached their victims with a gun. One victim reportedly thought the weapon was a bb gun and fled. Another victim wasn't so lucky. He was robbed after being shot in the eye with a bb gun.

Update on 2 bodies found in south Sacramento Co. home

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA - Sheriff's deputies conducting a welfare check on a resident found two people dead inside a Malt Court home Friday afternoon.

The deceased were a man and a woman. They were found in a home on the 7600 block of Malt Court in southern Sacramento County.

The woman, identified as 38-year-old Leslie Bellamy of Sacramento, was found in an upstairs bedroom. Ramos described the scene as "disturbed."

The man, who was in his 50s, was in the downstairs of the home.

Deputies had gone to the home to check on the woman because her employer reported she hadn't come into work nor been heard from in the past week, according to Ramos.

'Disrespectful' look' stabbing lands Sacramento man long sentence

SACRAMENTO, CA - A Sacramento man who fatally stabbed another man he claimed looked at his wife the wrong way is headed to prison for 26 years to life.

William Michael Todd was sentenced in Sacramento County Superior Court. In April, a Sacramento jury convicted Todd of first-degree murder with the use of a knife in the May 31, 2010, slaying of David Endres.

According to court records, Todd and Endres were standing outside a friend's apartment, drinking beer, when Todd took offense at how Endres looked at his wife. Without warning, Todd took out a knife and stabbed Endres twice, once in the abdomen and once in the heart.

Sacramento County District Attorney spokeswoman Shelly Orio said Todd immediately fled but was captured a few blocks away. DNA analysis of blood on his shirt matched Endres' blood DNA.

Sacramento man sentenced for killing 2 dogs

SACRAMENTO, CA - A Sacramento National Guardsman has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty to two felony counts of animal abuse.

Ramone Dupree King Jr. was accused of drowning a neighbor's chihuahua by putting it in a washing machine and turning the machine on. The dog had reportedly bit a child. That was in April 2010.

Several weeks later, King's girlfriend reported he kicked her Pomeranian to death after it urinated in his bedroom.

When first charged, King initially denied killing the chihuahua and claimed the Pomeranian's death was an accident, according to Shelly Orio, spokeswoman for the Sacramento County District Attorney's Office.

King enlisted in the California National Guard in 2006, said spokesman Major Jonathan Shiroma. King has not been deployed into combat.

King did not have a prior criminal record. He was sentenced to two years and eight months behind bars.
