3 people shot in 2 south Sacramento shootings | Crime
SACRAMENTO, CA - Three people were shot at two different south Sacramento neighborhoods Wednesday night.
A drive-by shooting happened on the 3600 block of 46th Avenue around 8:30 p.m. where one person was injured. Residents in the area reported hearing dozens of gunshots within a 50 to 60 yard stretch.
"All of a sudden it was like an action movie. I just hit the ground. I had to dive out of my chair and hit the ground and crawl up to my front door. Bullets were flying everywhere," said a still-sobbing Deborah Gilmore, who is confined to a wheelchair.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said the victim was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
About an hour-and-a-half later, two people were wounded at an apartment complex near 50th Avenue and Livingston Way, a little more than a mile away from the earlier shooting. Residents reported hearing three to four gunshots, and then another three to four gunshots.
"It went bang, bang, bang, four times, and then there was some silence and then commotion and yelling and then four more bang, bangs," said resident Theresa Fuller, who said she could see one of the victims lying in the grass outside her apartment.
The sheriff's department said two juvenile boys were wounded: one was shot in the arm, while the other was shot multiple times. Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment.
The sheriff's department said both shootings were gang-related; however, they are investigating the possibility that the two incidents are connected.
