Crime

SACRAMENTO, CA - A standoff between a wanted suspect and Sacramento County sheriff's deputies ended after nearly seven hours Thursday night.

A Sacramento police detective, who is part of an FBI task force, tried to serve a felony warrant at the south Sacramento home near 53rd Avenue and Burdett Way just after 4 p.m.

It's not clear whether the team made contact with the suspect or not, but they became convinced the man was inside.

SWAT team members and negotiators arrived at the scene around 4:30 p.m. Negotiators used a bullhorn to talk the suspect out of the home.

Deputies sent a robot into the house around 8 p.m.; shortly after that, they shot out an upstairs window.

Several neighbors were evacuated, although a few were later allowed to return to their homes.

The man's daughter and wife were outside with police and safe.

Shortly before 11 p.m., the man was brought out in handcuffs and taken away in a patrol car.

Police have not yet released information on what the suspect was wanted for, although the warrant for his arrest is reportedly from Yolo County.
