Driver suspected of DUI in fatal Sacramento crash

SACRAMENTO - A driver was arrested after a car crash killed one person and injured another Sunday morning.

According to Sacramento police officers, the driver of an Acura Integra was traveling southbound on Highway 99 near Fruitridge road with two passengers in his car around 2 a.m.

The driver, 33-year-old Thomas Vang, lost control of the car and traveled onto the dirt embankment before colliding with a streetlight pole.

One of the passengers was pronounced dead at the scene and the second passenger suffered major injuries, police said.

The man killed was identified as 33-year-old Zia Yang from Sacramento. The other passenger was not identified.

Vang was arrested at the scene and booked into the Sacramento County Jail on multiple charges including DUI involving injury and death, said police.
