Man detained after 5-hour South Land Park standoff | Crime

SACRAMENTO - A standoff lasting almost exactly five hours came to a conclusion in the South Land Park are around 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday.
Sacramento police were dispatched to the Park Hills apartment complex on the 6000 block of South Land Park Drive around 5:43 a.m. Tuesday morning in response to a call from a man who claimed he had killed his daughter with a chainsaw.
Sacramento police on scene said when officers arrived at the complex, the man, later identified as Antonio Mata, 51, refused to come out and started blasting loud music.

Four adjacent apartment units were evacuated while officers tried to convince the man to come out.
Police later made contact with the daughter Mata claimed to have killed and determined she lived elsewhere and was unharmed, said officers.
Officers initially said they did not believe Mata was armed, but later announced they could see him through the window, sitting with a knife in each hand.
SWAT was deployed to the scene at approximately 6:45 a.m., after police were unable to convince Mata to come out of the apartment.
About four hours later, SWAT deployed tear gas into the apartment, forcing Mata out of the unit. However, Mata continued to resist and was therefore Tasered and taken into custody, said police.
Mata was arrested and booked into custody on suspicion of resisting arrest, filing a false police report, false imprisonment and violation of a restraining order (the last two from a Dec. 3, 2012 incident).
