Burglar breaks into same store twice in 1 week

SACRAMENTO COUNTY, CA - Sacramento County sheriff's deputies investigate two break-ins at a music store, which appear to have been committed by the same man as seen on surveillance camera footage.

"Clearly, there's no doubt, it's the same guy," Tim's Music owner Scott Mandeville said while watching the surveillance footage.

The footage shows a man with long hair and a goatee, wearing a black t-shirt and gray athletic shorts talking to a store employee about the shop's most expensive instruments for about 20 minutes Wednesday.

Then early Thursday morning, multiple security cameras capture a man, wearing the same outfit and with the same facial hair and hair cut, and an accomplice smashing the store's front window and taking more than $40,000 worth of instruments.

Mandeville said he was not surprised who the burglar was when he saw the footage for the first time.

One dead after shooting at apartment complex

SACRAMENTO- Detectives are investigating a shooting at a south Sacramento County apartment complex that left one person dead.

Sacramento County Sheriff's deputies responded to reports of a shooting the Willow Pointe apartments on Sunnyslope Drive at 10:15 p.m. Friday.

Sacramento County sheriff's Sgt. Jason Ramos said upon arrival deputies found a male victim in his late teens on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds, just inside the gate of the complex.

Ramos said the victim died at the scene.

No information regarding a motive or those responsible for the crime have been determined, Ramos said.

Can you spot a gang symbol?

SACRAMENTO - Your child may be hanging around the wrong crowd, and you may not even know it. As a parent, would you know what to look out for if your child was affiliated with a gang?

Sacramento Sheriff's Department Gang Unit Sgt. Jamin Martinez said there are more than 300 documented gangs in Northern California, and that number is growing. In Sacramento, the Surenos and Nortenos are two of most active gangs.

"This is so much bigger than just something that the cops can deal with. It's a societal problem," Martinez said. "It starts with mom and dad; it starts with parents being parents."

You're probably aware of the tattoos and designated colors, but not all signs are that obvious.

News10 showed parents images of a hat with the letters "SK" embroidered in the front. At first glance, some parents passed it off as being a Sacramento Kings hat, but when Norteno gang members wear the hat, it could imply "Sureno Killers."

Sacramento woman found guilty of murdering her husband

SACRAMENTO, CA - A woman was found guilty of hiring a man to kill her husband Wednesday afternoon.

Shajia Ayobi was convicted of first degree murder of her husband Ghulam Ayobi in December 2011, Sacramento County District Attorney spokesperson Shelly Orio said.

Sacramento police responded to Interstate 80 at Norwood Avenue after getting a call of a man who was shot in the upper body on Dec. 19, 2011. Ghulam Ayobi was then transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he later died.

Originally, Shajia Ayobi told police that her husband was carjacked, forced to drive on I-80, pull over on a Ayobi's own testimony that was most damaging. However, Orio said during the investigation, police found that Shajia Ayobi had hired a hit man to kill her husband.

Jury foreman Matthew Smalley said it was some of Ayobi's own testimony that was most damaging.

"The defendant admitted to contracting to murder her husband," Smalley said.

DEA: Sacramento-area meth trafficking ring busted

SACRAMENTO, CA - Seven men, most of them from Sacramento, were arrested Thursday on allegations they ran a methamphetamine distribution operation.

The Drug Enforcement Administration investigation began last August. According to the criminal complaint, DEA agents used a confidential source, undercover buys, court-sanctioned phone taps and surveillance to build their case for arrest warrants for:

Armando Flores Vasquez of Sacramento
Serafin Magallon of Atwater
Jose Maneul Garica of Garcia
Luis Fernando Morales of Sacramento
Joshua Avila of Rio Linda
Miguel Angel Rangel of San Jose
Salvador Padilla of Sacramento

Vasquez, Magallon and Rangel were the alleged ring leaders of the operation.

Mark Hopkins, Rosa Parks schools locked down for search

SACRAMENTO, CA - Sacramento police searched for two individuals in connection to a burglary on the 2800 block of Swift Way Thursday morning.

As a precaution, Mark Hopkins Elementary School at nearby 2221 Matson Drive as well as Rosa Parks Middle School at 2250 68th Avenue were placed on lockdown status.

Officers fanned out in the area of Matson and Brownwood Way looking for the pair.

According to preliminary information from officers on scene, one person was detained. Two others were still at large. A stolen minivan believed used by those sought was abandoned in the front yard of a home in the area.

The school lockdowns were lifted a little after 1 p.m.

Woman found dead in so. Sac. home identified

SACRAMENTO - A woman was found dead in her south Sacramento home on Tuesday afternoon.

Deputies responded to the 5900 block of Mascot Avenue around 4 p.m. after a woman called saying she found her roommate dead in the bedroom, Sacramento County sheriff's Sgt. Jason Ramos said.

When deputies arrived at the scene, they found 53-year-old Rebecca Brau with multiple gunshot wounds. Ramos said Brau was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her roommate Linda Gabaldon was detained for questioning and held on a parole violation. Investigators have not said what the violation was for.

Detectives continue to investigate the homicide. No information about suspect(s) or a motive have been identified.

Investigators have said they do not believe this was a random attack.

"We did not have forced entry we are inclined to believe this is not a random act," said Ramos.
