EGACE to offer creative writing workshops

The Elk Grove Adult and Community Education (EGACE) Always Learning program is offering several opportunities this fall for students to explore and develop their creative writing skills.  The workshops are all conveniently offered at EGACE (8401-B Gerber Road, Sacramento).  

Creative Writing Workshop

Nan Mahon, an instructor with Always Learning for over 10 years and a local published author, will share tips to help you get started with your dream to become a writer.   Let the creativity begin here!  Bring your ideas and any projects you have started to the fun-filled day-long workshop.

With 'Breakfast in My Neighborhood' News10 viewers get a chance to decide where News10 Good Morning co-anchor Keba Arnold will be live during the following Friday's 5 and 6 a.m. newscasts.

Voting began last Friday morning Sept. 13 and ended Tuesday Sept. 17 at 6 p.m.

The winner was announced Wednesday Sept. 18 on News10 Good Morning.

Keba Arnold will be live at either Denis' Country Kitchen or the The Omelet House from 5 a.m. to 7 a.m. depending on YOUR vote.

Voting ends at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, so cast your vote right away!

EGUSD students and staff earn Youth Elly Awards

EGUSD students and staff earn Youth Elly Awards

EGUSD students and staff from three high schools captured 12 awards at the 2013 Youth Elly Awards at the Roseville Theater Arts Academy on Sunday, September 8, 2013.  The Elly Awards, presented by the Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance, honor outstanding achievements of community theaters and artists in the greater Sacramento area.  The Elly Awards are named for Eleanor McClatchy, a devoted patron of the arts. 


Walk for Safety

Parents concerned about the safety and well‐being of their children as they head back to school can get plenty of help at the 2013 Back to School Block Party, September 7 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Fruitridge Shopping Center, 5657 Stockton Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95824.

A collaboration of the Fruitridge Manor Neighborhood Association (FMNA), the Sacramento Building Healthy Communities HUB (BHC), and NeighborWorks Sacramento, the event will feature a spectrum community and school organizations providing free health and safety resources, including free bike helmets, as well as free food, carnival games, and raffle prizes.
