Local Filipino School - Eskwela Natin Grand Opening

SACRAMENTO, CA – Eskwela Nation, a Filipino School will have their grand opening this Sunday, May 19, 2013 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm at the Community Room in the Sacramento County Human Resources Building. Come learn more about the school and support our Filipino-American youth!

Philippine Consul General Marciano A. Paynor, Jr.  will be also attending the grand opening of Eskwela Natin, our Filipino School, the first Filipino American Cultural School in Northern California and located in Sacramento.

He will be cutting the ribbon to officially open the school following a short program of greetings, proclamations, patriotic songs and brief remarks by the Consul General and local officials. He will be accompanied by Consul Reichel Quinones.

Railroad Museum Gets in the Jazzy Spirit With Music Aboard Trains & More!

Coinciding with the 40th Anniversary Sacramento Music Festival happening over Memorial Day weekend in Old Sacramento, California State Parks and the California State Railroad Museum will celebrate the holiday by offering jazz music inside the Railroad Museum, aboard popular weekend excursion train rides and even complimentary admission to event badge holders.

Inside the Museum, visitors will be treated to a special poetry reading that will include jazz music on Saturday, May 25, from 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. in the East Theater.  And, guests who choose to take a lovely six-mile, 45-minute round trip excursion train ride along the levees of the Sacramento River will also be entertained on board by talented banjo performers from the Sacramento Banjo Band.

Weekend excursion train rides will be offered on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of the holiday weekend (May 25-27).   Trains depart hourly from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An accomplished writer, director, producer and writing teacher, Selling has a successfully written, produced and directed award-winning documentary and short fiction films based on stories by American authors.
