Sacramento Museums Fall for Halloween & Harvest Fun in October

In addition to its fascinating Gold Rush past, the Sacramento area is rich with an amazing array of state-of-the-art museums and historic sites that offer visitors the chance to explore California’s fine art, history, science, and wildlife treasures all year long.  In October, many of the 30 members of Sacramento Association of Museums (SAM) are offering fun Halloween and harvest-related events and activities sure to get guests in a festive spirit, including:

Local high school in national contest needs your help!

Franklin High School Percussion in Elk Grove has been nominated for a brand new custom-designed floor tarp. This is a wonderful opportunity as the cost of a new tarp is nearly $3000 and a new floor tarp is badly needed.  The winner of the 'Teams for Tarps' contest gets a free tarp and the first two runners up get 50% off of a tarp.

4th Annual “Sacramento Archives Crawl” on October 11!

In celebration of National Archives Month, archives and special collections libraries from throughout the region will showcase their rarely-seen holdings during the 4th annual Sacramento Archives Crawl on Saturday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Free and open to the public, the theme for the event this year is Having Fun in the Sacramento Region.  Showcasing historic treasures from 23 Northern California institutions, special artifacts will be on public display for one-day-only at four host locations, including the California State Archives, the California State Library, the Center for Sacramento History, and the Sacramento Public Library.

A vibrant and culturally diverse entertainment line-up has been announced for the 7th Annual SacWorldFest, a family-friendly celebration proudly presented by Sacramento State and Wells Fargo Bank. Showcasing cultural diversity through lively music and dance, the annual festival has expanded to a week-long celebration -- September 27 through October 5, 2014 -- with many of the key events taking place on the dynamic college campus.  Plus, Sacramento State will offer FREE parking and easy access for any visitors attending SacWorldFest events.    

Kick-Off Gala at Sac State on Saturday, 9/27 from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
