K9 Cancer Walk this Sunday in Elk Grove
A Walk Benefiting Canine Cancer Research

Cancer ends the lives of more dogs than any other disease. Over 6 million new dog cancer diagnoses are made each year. By participating in and fundraising for this walk, you can help increase Morris Animal Foundation's capacity to invest in science that will help prevent and treat cancer and other diseases in dogs.

Halloween Moon Crabs are also known as the Jack O’ Lantern Crabs thanks to the spots and coloration on the top of their carapace. They are found along the Pacific coast of Central and South America, and while they do return to the ocean to spawn, they spend the majority of time on land amid mangroves and forests.

PetSmart CEO, Mayor Johnson & Front Street Shelter Celebrate Opening of Pop-Up Park in Sacramento

SACRAMENTO – PetSmart, Inc. has partnered with the City of Sacramento to bring a portable, pop-up park to Sacramento. This portable dog park provides more than 9,000 square feet of space for pet parents to bring their dogs to play. PetSmart’s P.U.P. is a shipping container that contains everything that can be deployed to create an interim dog park, including 340 feet of fencing, three waste clean-up stations, three moveable benches, lighting on and inside the container.

While the park has been open to the community since August, a community celebration and official ribbon cutting will take place on Saturday, September 27. Speakers will include Kevin Johnson, Mayor of Sacramento and David Lenhardt, President and CEO of PetSmart.

Please Help Lost Dog

Please Help Lost Dog

South Sacramento -- This friendly dog needs to find his owners or a new home ASAP. Nicknamed "Sparky," he is very dirty with matted fur and was found wandering around Stockton Blvd. and Elder Creek Road. His extreme physical condition suggests Sparky has been on his own a long time. Although there's an old collar with a broken rope around his neck, Sparky has no ID tag. He appears to be a poodle mix weighing about 20 pounds. Craving affection, Sparky is quiet and obedient. At this time, he's hanging around my neighborhood and desperately needs a new home! Please call me at 916-519-9707 if you are Sparky's owner who wants him to come home, or if you will give him a new one!

Small Wonders will house six new African species: African Straw-colored Fruit Bats, Aardvark, Wolf's Guenons, Red-billed Hornbills and Crested Guineafowl. Later this year, Banded Mongooses will join the Aardvark on exhibit.
