New red light camera activated in So. Sacramento

SACRAMENTO, CA - A new red light camera went active Thursday morning at the corner of Florin Road and Lindale Drive.  While Sacramento County continues to add lights around town, other cities, including Los Angeles, are considering getting rid of them.

"It's not an honest program for all the motorists," said Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis Zine.  "If you know the system, you don't have to pay it, nothing happens.  Meanwhile, we're paying that company to process each and every citation."

Zine said some on the city council are in favor of abandoning the program.

"I understand the skepticism on the part of some of the nay-sayers," said Sacramento County Sheriff's Department spokesman Deputy Jason Ramos.  "But let's face it, when you talk about statistics -- 78 percent reduction (in crashes) at some of these intersections -- you're talking about basically saving lives."

See you at the fair!

See you at the fair!

The California State Fair claims that it will be bigger and better this year. I'm not exactly sure WHAT exactly will be bigger, but the fair website bigfun.org claims there will be more attractions than years past. I know that they have great concerts lined up and I'm pretty excited about that--specifically Starship who will perform on July 31st!  So considering that the fair happens earlier, the weather appears to be quite lovely right now, and all of my favorite fair treats will still be around--it's looking like it will be another great fair experience! Not to mention News10 will be giving away FREE t-shirts to the first 2,500 attendees at the fair on opening day--Thursday July 14!

Top Five things I look forward to every year:

   1) News10 Weather Wall: You can be a weather forecaster, or simply pose with your friends! Either way it's lots of fun and its FREE!
