2 attacked with baseball bats on Sacramento street

SACRAMENTO, CA - Two people are in the hospital with serious injuries after being attacked and beaten with baseball bats.

The victims were playing basketball near Equinox Way and Rosto Court when they got into an argument with three suspects riding by on their bikes, Sgt. Norm Leong said.

The suspects left the area then returned with baseball bat.

Leong said the suspects attacked the victims, hitting them in the upper body and head several times. The suspects then took one of the victim's vehicles, which was later found a few blocks away.

Leong said the victims were taken to the hospital and treated with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation led police to arrest three people, Joseph Cortez, 24, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy.
